SLC Radio: KOSL-AM Makes Move To Oldies

At noon Wednesday, KOSL/1550 in Salt Lake City ended a "10,000 songs in a row" stunt and launched a 50's-to-70's classic hits format as "Oldies 1550".  The first song played was Bill Haley and The Comets' "Rock Around The Clock".

KOSL is owned by longtime FCC attorney Barry D. Wood and managed by Don Davis, owner of the Radio New Mexico stations in that state.

K.M. Richards, whose classic hits format The Eighties Channel™ airs on Davis' KRKE/93.7 in Albuquerque, created the new format for 1550 and is acting as the station's remote program director.  "I am so pleased to be working on behalf of my good friend and FCC attorney Barry Wood to build KOSL into a successful Oldies radio station," Davis said.

"I love the Oldies format, and to be able to join Barry and my friend and consultant K.M. Richards in this endeavor is absolutely thrilling."  Richards added "It's great fun for someone who has been in radio for as long as I have to be able to program an Oldies station again.  I'm having the time of my life with this project, and I'm hoping our concept resonates with Salt Lake City listener.
