Baltimore Radio: WCBM Makes Change In Morning Drive

Bruce Elliott, a veteran Baltimore radio personality known for his conservative talk radio style and deep roots in local broadcasting, is out at WCBM 680 AM, ending a nearly decade-long run at the station.

Bruce Elliott
The 68-year-old Elliott, a Baltimore native, brought over four decades of broadcast experience to WCBM, including stints in radio and television across markets like Wilmington, DE, and earlier roles at local stations such as WBAL. He joined WCBM in 2015 as a part-time fill-in host and quickly became a fixture following the sudden death of longtime midday host Tom Marr in July 2016. Elliott permanently took over Marr's 9 a.m.–noon slot that August, earning praise for his passionate, community-focused commentary on politics, local issues, and current events.

Word of Elliott departure came via a WCBM press release Friday, stating that Elliott would "step away from the WCBM microphone as part of The Morning Drive with Casey & Elliott" effective immediately.

No specific reason was provided in the statement—such as retirement, contract non-renewal, or personal choice—but it was framed positively as part of a "change in morning drive" to refresh the program.

Elliott's departure was not entirely unexpected.  WCBM has seen several high-profile changes in recent years, including Derek Hunter's exit from the midday slot in 2023 and the addition of syndicated shows like The Rob Carson Show in 2021.
