Jeanine Pirro, former Fox News host and New York judge, was confirmed Saturday as Washington, DC’s top prosecutor in a 50-45 party-line Senate vote.
The former Westchester County prosecutor and elected judge, who became acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia in May, faced opposition from House Democrats, who warned she would act as a partisan tool for President Trump. Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin criticized her loyalty to Trump over the Constitution in a letter to Senate leaders.

Pirro, 73, served as a prosecutor for 15 years, becoming Westchester County’s first female district attorney in 1993. Known for her tough stance on domestic violence, she served three terms before running unsuccessfully for Senate in 2005 and New York attorney general in 2006.
A Fox News contributor since 2011, Pirro previously starred in the reality show “Judge Jeanine Pirro.” She joins other Fox News figures in Trump’s second-term administration, including Pete Hegseth, Sean Duffy, Dan Bongino, and Tulsi Gabbard.
Her husband, Albert Pirro, convicted of conspiracy and tax evasion in 2000, was pardoned by Trump in 2021.
