YouTube announced Monday that it’s negotiating with Fox to renew their content partnership, but Fox is demanding higher payments than other comparable content providers.
YouTube warned that if no agreement is reached by 5:00 PM ET on August 27, Fox channels, including Fox Sports, Business, and News, will be removed from YouTube TV.
YouTube, an Alphabet subsidiary, emphasized its efforts to secure a fair deal without raising subscriber costs. If Fox content remains unavailable for an extended period, YouTube TV will offer a $10 credit to affected users.
Fox, in response, criticized Google for leveraging its dominance and proposing terms misaligned with market standards, warning that content access could be disrupted unless Google negotiates meaningfully soon.
In a similar situation, YouTube TV resolved a dispute with Paramount Global in February, ensuring channels like CBS, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon remained available after tense contract talks.
