Smith, a former Sports Mighty 1090 personality, recently started hosting the Darren Smith Show, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., on co-owned KLSD XTRA 1360. Cronin also co-hosts of San Diego’s Evening News on KOGO.
Smith has been a prominent voice in San Diego sports radio since 2004. For the past 15 years, Darren has delivered sports fans with a unique opinion, topical interviews and breaking news coverage.
“When Darren chose to join us at iHeart Media San Diego, it was clear that he was an exceptional talent with something to say on a variety of issues both inside and outside of the world of sports,” said KOGO and XTRA 1360 Program Director Brian Long. “This is an exciting opportunity for KOGO listeners to experience a new voice and perspective on the station.”
Prior to his broadcast career on the west coast, Smith spent time at ESPN Radio at the headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut (1998-2002), where he helped launch ESPN’s 24-hour format. During his tenure, Smith produced several programs, including the famed
The Dan Patrick Show.
The addition of Not Sports with Darren Smith and Jack Cronin will shift KOGO at Night with Chris Merrill to weekdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
