ABC: 'World News Tonight' Only Cast To Grow 25-54

David Muir Anchors Live for the First Time Ever From Apollo 11 Mission Control
ABC News’ “World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 evening newscast in Total Viewers (7.880 million), Adults 25-54 (1.542 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.047 million) for the week of July 15, 2019, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. 

“World News Tonight” outperformed “NBC Nightly News” (6.877 million, 1.499 million and 1.006 million, respectively) by 1.003 million Total Viewers, by 43,000 Adults 25-54 and by 41,000 Adults 18-49, winning in Total Viewers for the 42nd time in the 43 weeks of the season. 

In fact, “World News Tonight” turned in its first back-to-back weekly wins (+1.099 million for w/o 7/8/19) of more than 1.0 million viewers over “NBC Nightly News” in nearly 23 years – since weeks of 9/30/96 and 10/7/96, respectively.

“World News Tonight” featured a week-long series on Apollo 11 Mission to the Moon, 50 years later with David Muir anchoring live broadcast for the first time ever from inside Apollo 11 mission control.

“World News Tonight” stood as the only evening newscast to post increases year to year (w/o 7/16/18) in any demo:  Total Viewer (+58,000/+1% - 7.880 million vs. 7.822 million), Adults 25-54 (+23,000/+2% - 1.542 million vs. 1.519 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7,000/+1% - 1.047 million vs. 1.040 million)
