TV Ratings Off A Bit For The Grammys

On their new night, the Grammys declined slightly from last year.

But they still posted a very strong rating, according to Media Life magazine.

CBS’s telecast of the awards show, which ran well past 11 p.m., averaged a 16.1 metered-market household rating, according to Nielsen. That was off 4 percent from last year, when the show drew a 16.7, a six-year low.

CBS moved the show from Sunday to Monday this year, which did not appear to provide a ratings spark. But, the show dominated the competition, lifting CBS to an easy Monday night victory, with most broadcast shows seeing week-to-week declines against the tougher competition.

Top show of the night in 18-49s:
CBS’s “Grammy Awards,” 8-11 p.m., 7.4 rating.

Top show of the night in 25-54s
CBS’s “Grammy Awards,” 8-11 p.m., 8.7 rating.

Top show of the night in total viewers
CBS’s “Grammy Awards,” 8-11 p.m., 23.73 million.
