Aussie Radio Ratings: 2Day FM Spikes

Kyle, Jackie O
Southern Cross Austereo’s 2Day FM remains the top FM station with a share of 9.9, up from 8.5, according to the latest Nielsen numbers.

2Day FM is the ‘Royal Prank’ station that made news worldwide with a prank phone call that resulted in the death of a nurse to the London hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated.

DMG’s Nova remained in second place with an 8.0 per cent share, just ahead of stablemate smoothfm.

And, according to mUmBRELLA, Australia’s media, marketing & entertainment umbrella,  with just one more ratings release before the end of the year, the Kyle & Jackie O Show appears set to bow out as the top FM breakfast show. The duo saw their share rise from 9.9 per cent to 11.2 per cent, the biggest increase in the timeslot. On Friday the duo announced they were leaving 2Day FM with ARN revealing over the weekend that it is in talks to sign them.

The boss of the Australian Radio Network – owner of Mix and Classic Hits networks – has publicly confirmed for the first time that the organization has commenced talks with presenters Kyle Sandilands and sidekick Jackie O.

The Sydney breakfast show – which is the number one commercial FM show in the city – is a key plank of advertising revenue for SCA. Friday’s announcement triggered a 6% drop in the company’s share price.
