NRG Media, a major Midwest radio broadcaster, announced on Tuesday, that it has entered into an agreement to sell its cluster of five radio stations (plus one FM translator) serving the Central Nebraska markets of Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney to Usher Media LLC, owned by local broadcaster Alan Usher.
The deal is valued at $3.75 million, though some initial reports described the price as undisclosed.
The transaction is pending FCC approval and is expected to close in early 2026.
This sale represents NRG's strategic divestiture of its smaller-market assets in Central Nebraska, allowing the company to focus on larger clusters like those in Omaha and Lincoln. For Usher Media, it's an expansion in its home region, consolidating local ownership of key stations that serve over 140,000 residents in the "Tri-Cities" area.
