CBS News Saturday Co-Hosts Tearfully Sign Off

CBS Saturday Morning co-hosts Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson fought back tears during an emotional final sign-off on Saturday, after the network abruptly ended their seven-year run on the Saturday edition amid a major programming overhaul.

The two journalists used their last broadcast to deliver heartfelt goodbyes, thanking viewers, colleagues, and the behind-the-scenes crew while openly acknowledging the departure was not their choice.

“While it wasn’t our choice to leave, we did have one in how we get to say goodbye,” Jacobson said, her voice cracking as she praised the “amazing producers, photographers, audio engineers, editors, makeup and hair stylists, assistants, floor crew, and wardrobe” who made every story possible.

Miller reflected on the show as “the cherry on top of that ice cream sundae,” calling their co-hosting gig a dream come true. Jacobson described the job as a rare “once-in-a-lifetime” second act after her long career at ESPN, adding, “What a gift that this show was… I got to travel the globe and be a storyteller again.”

Both women grew emotional while expressing gratitude to viewers who approached them everywhere from airports and Celtics games to dog walks with Jacobson’s dog Barkley, telling them how much they valued the weekend “escape” the program provided.

Miller, who joined CBS 22 years ago as a “gritty reporter with no job, no prospects,” said the Saturday broadcast gave them the rare chance “to amplify stories that matter from all vantage points and the time to tell them fully.”

The broadcast closed with Miller quoting Bob Marley: “Beginnings are usually scary, endings are usually sad, but it is everything in between that makes it all worth living,” adding that the sentiment perfectly captured their time on CBS Saturday Morning.

The network has confirmed the show will continue under new leadership with its usual mix of news and features.
