Accuweather Lands Partnership With MS NOW, CNBC

AccuWeather has secured a multi-year deal to become the exclusive weather provider for the new Versant cable networks, including the rebranded MS NOW (launching November 15, 2025, as a successor to MSNBC) and CNBC, delivering hyper-local forecasts, live meteorologist appearances, and custom graphics to millions of viewers across daily news and business programming.

The partnership fills a critical gap for Versant—spun off from Comcast—by integrating AccuWeather’s “Superior Accuracy”™ forecasts, severe weather warnings, and a team of over 90 expert meteorologists into flagship shows like Morning Joe on MS NOW and Squawk Box on CNBC.

It includes branded segments, real-time storm updates, and digital content tailored to news, business, and lifestyle impacts, such as travel disruptions or commodity market effects from extreme weather.

Key elements of the agreement:
  • On-air integration: Live or recorded appearances by AccuWeather meteorologists during routine and breaking weather coverage.
  • Visual tools: Custom maps, animations, and data feeds for clear, engaging explanations of complex weather patterns.
  • Editorial support: Access to AccuWeather’s API, video library, and editorial content for seamless use across TV and streaming platforms.
  • Staff expansion: MS NOW has hired Emmy-winning journalist David Parkinson as Senior Weather and Elections Data Analyst and Moses Small as Climate Reporter to collaborate with AccuWeather’s team.
The deal comes at a pivotal time. MS NOW’s rebrand to “My Source for News, Opinion, and the World” emphasizes trusted, independent reporting amid rising climate volatility and frequent severe weather events. Scott Matthews, MS NOW’s Senior VP of Newsgathering, said the partnership ensures “top-quality data and reporting” during unprecedented weather challenges.

AccuWeather CEO Steven R. Smith called the collaboration a major step in the company’s mission to save lives and inform decision-making, noting that its forecasts and warnings will now reach millions more through Versant’s platforms.

For CNBC, the partnership builds on a 27-year relationship dating back to 1998, when AccuWeather began providing eight daily live hits featuring experts like Dr. Joe Sobel.
