Cumulus Media
has announced that its Buffalo Rock station 97 Rock WGRF-FM raised $312,000 for Make-A-Wish Western New York through its 31st Annual Make-A-Wish Radiothon.

The successful community fundraiser harnessed the power of 97 Rock’s on-air and digital platform of passionate and generous listeners to drive donations on September 28th and 29th. The funds generated will help grant life-changing wishes to hundreds of children in the Buffalo and Western New York region who are facing critical illnesses.

Over the course of the two-day event, 97 Rock told the stories of special “Wish” families and listeners, sponsors, and volunteers, who came together in a powerful show of support by donating money and bidding on unique auction items to raise money for Make-A-Wish. The Radiothon highlighted the positive impact of a wish.

“We are overwhelmed by the support from our listeners and the Western New York community,” said Joe Russo, Program Director at 97 Rock. “We ask our audience for a lot, and they always rise to the occasion when it comes to helping children and their families.”

Mary Hazel, Development Director, Buffalo, Make-a-Wish Western New York, said: “The annual Radiothon provides us with an amazing opportunity to raise both crucial awareness and funds to help children and families fighting critical illnesses, not only in Buffalo but throughout our 17-county region.” Hazel noted: “Wishes are more than just a moment in time—they stay with a child long after they are granted, helping to improve well-being, build self-confidence, and renew emotional strength when it feels impossible.”

The Make-A-Wish Radiothon is also supported by a group of volunteers and businesses who give their time to help make the event possible.
