NYC TV: MLB Mets, WPIX Extend Deal And Footprint

WPIX-TV announced Monday an extended agreement with SNY to broadcast New York Mets games through 2028. The deal secures 30 Mets games annually on PIX 11 from 2026 to 2028, including 25 regular-season games, primarily on Friday nights under the “Mets Game of the Week” banner with 30-minute pregame shows, and five spring training games.

For the first time, broadcasts will also air on Nexstar-owned stations in Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, and Hartford, Connecticut, bringing Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling’s commentary to upstate fans.

The Friday night slot anchors PIX 11’s baseball season schedule, while authenticated streaming ensures fans in the new markets can watch games remotely.

Nexstar’s VP and General Manager in New York, Chris McDonnell, highlighted the deal as proof of broadcast television’s lasting appeal and PIX 11’s strong bond with Mets fans. The agreement keeps games on free TV, expands into new markets, and contrasts with the shifting landscape of local sports broadcasting, where streaming deals and regional sports network issues are common.
