Boston’s WBOS Rock 92.9 is being replaced by Bloomberg Radio, as the classic rock station moves to HD2 next month.
“Starting on September 3rd at 12:00pm ET Bloomberg Radio can now be heard on Beasley Media Group’s 92.9/WBOS-FM HD1,” reads a company press release posted by “Adam 12” Chapman, program director and a host on 92.9.
“ROCK 92.9 along with Dave and Chuck the Freak will be heard on 92.9 WBOS-FM HD2, 106.1 FM, WRCA 1330 AM and on the ROCK 92.9 App and stream,” the press release states.
Also, Adam 12 announced that he’s leaving the station on Sept. 3 when the transition goes into effect.
“Listen after Dave & Chuck the Freak on Tuesday, September 3 as I say goodbye to ROCK 92.9, much like I did at WFNX in 2012 and WBCN in 2009,” he wrote. “Third time’s a charm!”
“I’m the guy who puts Boston’s rock stations to bed, forever,” he posted on social media.
The Boston Herald reports Bloomberg Radio is a 24-hour business radio station, which has flagship stations in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and London.
“We’re excited to expand our great partnership with a global news and business leader of Bloomberg’s magnitude,” said Mary Menna, Beasley Media’s Regional VP for the Northeast. “This unique programming underscores the company’s commitment to providing our listeners with the very best content and compliments our other Boston brands: 98.5 The Sports Hub, HOT 96.9, WROR 105.7 and Country 102.5.”
In 2019, Beasley Media Group launched the new Rock 92.9 as the “Next Generation of Classic Rock.”
The station plays Guns & Roses, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Nirvana, Ozzy Osbourne, Bon Jovi, Green Day, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.
Rob “Hardy” Poole of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Hardy” has been on Rock 92.9 during the afternoon. But Hardy will no longer be on 92.9 following the move, according to Adam 12.
