BFA To Honor Dave Lougee With Golden Mic Award

The Broadcasters Foundation of America has announced Dave Lougee, president-CEO of Tegna Inc., as recipient of its 2020 Golden Mike Award.

According to TV News Check, the award will be presented during a black-tie gala on Wednesday, March 4, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The annual event is a major fundraiser in support of the mission of the Broadcasters Foundation of America to provide aid to broadcasters in acute need.

“When devastation strikes one of our colleagues, it’s good to know the foundation is there to help,” said Lougee. “I’m so very proud of the generosity of the many broadcasters who support and donate to the Broadcasters Foundation, and I am honored to receive their Golden Mike Award.”

“As a member of our board of directors, Dave has made a difference in the lives of the many broadcasters the Foundation helps,” said Dan Mason, chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation.

“Dave is an exemplary broadcaster, who leads his team in serving their local markets with journalistic integrity. We are proud to honor him.”

In addition to his role as Tegna president-CEO, Lougee also serves on the company’s board of directors. Prior to ascending to his current position, Lougee spent 10 years as president of Tegna Media. During that time, the company acquired Belo Corp. and London Broadcasting, nearly doubling its broadcast portfolio.

Previously, he served at Belo as EVP, media operations and, prior to that, as SVP and president and general manager of TV and cable operations in Seattle/Tacoma.
