Chicago Radio: Cumulus Media Window Shopping WGN 720 AM

Nexstar Media Group has agreed to acquire Tribune Media, which includes 42 television stations, WGN America cable network and WGN radio.  Nexstar is a TV operator and currently does not have any radio in its portfolio.

Cumulus Media currently owns  News/Talk WLS 890AM, along with Classic Hits WLS 94.7 FM and Alternative Rock WKQX 101.1 FM.

Chicago Media Watcher Robert Feder reports Berner told staffers in Chicago last week that the company definitely was interested in WGN Radio.

“It’s on our radar,” one insider said.

Other potential buyers for WGN-AM include Entercom Communications and Hubbard Radio.
