WKSZ 95.9 KISS-FM’s on-again, off-again relationship with morning show co-hosts Doug & Mary is off again, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
The Top 40 station posted on its Facebook page Friday evening that the husband-and-wife team, along with sidekick Travis, are no longer employed with Woodward Radio Group.
Kelly Radandt, general manager of Woodward Radio, declined to comment on specifics of the decision but said the station plans to have a new morning show in place in a couple of months. It will be a local show, not syndicated, she said.
“We remain committed to doing the high-quality local radio that everyone has come to expect of us,” Radandt said. “We understand that our listeners had a connection with Doug & Mary, as we quite hope they do with many of our stations.”
Doug Erickson posted on his Facebook page:
Doug & Mary returned to the 5-to-9 a.m. slot at KISS in February of 2016, after leaving in 2013 to help launch a sister station, KZ Radio (WKZY-FM, 104.3 and 92.9), which has an ’80s and ’90s format. Both stations are owned by Woodward.
Prior to going to KZ, Doug & Mary worked the morning drive at KISS for eight years.
News of their departure has generated more than 400 comments from listeners on the KISS Facebook page, the majority of them expressing their disappointment with the move.
