Grand Central Station Once Housed CBS-TV Studios

New York’s iconic Grand Central Terminal turned 100 years old Friday. While people know it today as a transportation and shopping hub, Alex Weprin at mediabistro.com notes it also has a very important part in television history, particularly with regard to TV news.

Before the CBS Broadcast Center, Grand Central was the home of the CBS Television Studios, in a space now occupied by the Vanderbilt Tennis Club. What are now tennis courts was once studios where the likes of Edward R. Murrow delivered the news to people across the country.
