FL Radio: Joe Bullard Sues Cumulus Media for Discrimination

Joe Bullard
Joe Bullard, a prominent Tallahassee radio personality and National Black Radio Hall of Fame inductee, has filed a lawsuit against Cumulus Media on August 1, 2025, alleging age discrimination and violations of the Florida Civil Rights Act (FCRA).

The lawsuit, filed 50 days after Bullard’s final broadcast on WHBX 96.1 Jamz, where he worked for nearly 28 years, claims the 72-year-old was treated differently than younger employees.

Specifically, the eight-page complaint alleges Bullard faced “differential treatment and hostility” in the workplace, including being told not to play music by artists like Anita Baker and Gladys Knight, deemed “too old” by management, despite being on his show.

Represented by civil rights lawyer Marie Maddox, Bullard is seeking damages exceeding $50,000. The FCRA protects employees of all ages from workplace discrimination, and Bullard’s case highlights alleged violations based on his age.
