Howard Stern has signed a new three-year contract extension with SiriusXM, ensuring "The Howard Stern Show" will continue on the satellite radio platform through at least 2028.
The 71-year-old radio icon personally announced the deal on Tuesday's episode of his show, following months of intense negotiations and widespread speculation about his future.
A SiriusXM spokesperson confirmed the renewal but declined to share financial details.Stern's current five-year agreement, reportedly worth around $500 million and signed in 2020, was set to expire at the end of 2025.
Rumors of potential retirement or non-renewal intensified earlier this year, fueled by reports of cost concerns at SiriusXM and Stern's reduced on-air schedule, which includes extended summers off and frequent remote broadcasts.
The negotiations wrapped up over the weekend, with Stern admitting he was "torn up" about the decision but ultimately excited to continue.
"Yes, we are coming back for three years," he told listeners, noting his staff was also kept in the dark until recently.
Stern has been a cornerstone of SiriusXM since joining in 2006 after leaving terrestrial radio, where he faced FCC fines for indecency. His move helped boost the company's subscriber base dramatically, and he remains one of its marquee talents despite evolving content and a lighter workload in recent years.
