R.I.P.: Bob Holder, Lehigh Valley Pa Sports Personality

Bob Holder, a prominent Lehigh Valley, PA sports radio personality, passed away at 62.

A 1980 Whitehall High School graduate and member of the Zephyrs’ District 11 championship baseball team, Holder dedicated roughly 25 years to local radio, most recently hosting a Saturday morning show on News Radio 790 WAEB-AM.

Craig Stevens, iHeartMedia’s vice president of programming for the Allentown/Reading/Wilmington/Atlantic City region, shared on social media, “Words can’t capture this loss. Bob loved radio—its history, its present, its soul. He lived and breathed WZZO.”

Known for his sharp wit and spirited debates, Holder thrived as a contrarian, challenging sports narratives with humor and charm.

In an August 20 online post, Holder shared how he entered radio: “In April 1998, I was driving a Frito Lay truck, listening to Bearman and Keith on Z95. A commercial asked, ‘Want to work in music, sports, and entertainment?’ I parked, called, interviewed, and never looked back. Radio changed my life.”

Holder’s unpredictable, authentic style defined his shows. Colleagues admired his passion for radio, his knack for sparking discussion, and his genuine presence.“You’ll be missed, admired, remembered,” Stevens said. “The iHeartRadio sales floor won’t be the same.”
