John Malone, the influential Liberty Media chairman, cable industry titan, and major Warner Bros. Discovery shareholder, appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” via Zoom from his home Tuesday.
The intervidw primarily promoting his new book, Born to Be Wired. The interview began with routine questions about the book’s creation and Malone’s motivations for writing it.
The discussion took a sharpe turn when conservative co-host Joe Kernen criticized the news media’s perceived bias against Donald Trump and pressed Malone for his views on CNN, a network Malone has previously criticized.
Malone didn’t hold back, echoing sentiments from a recent New York Times interview with Ben Mullin, where he described CNN as a “shadow” of its founder’s vision, staffed by “left-of-center” employees who infuse their opinions into reporting.
