An ABC spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that the show will be preempted indefinitely. ABC, a Disney subsidiary, made the decision shortly after Nexstar Media Group, which owns and partners with ABC-affiliated stations, announced it would pull the show from its markets starting that evening.Nexstar stated it “strongly objects” to Kimmel’s comments about Kirk’s killing and will replace the program with alternative content. Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, called Kimmel’s remarks “offensive and insensitive” during a critical time in national political discourse. He added that continuing to air the show does not align with the values of the communities they serve and that preempting it aims to foster more respectful dialogue.
