Andrew Dallos, a key figure behind The Rachel Maddow Show, announced his departure from MSNBC after nearly 25 years, highlighting ongoing turmoil at the lefty channel.
Dallos, 59, who helped launch Maddow’s show in 2008, shared the news in an emotional Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of NBC Studios in New York.
“After nearly 25 years, my time at MSNBC has come to an end. I’ve made the difficult decision to leave the company I’ve called home for nearly a quarter of a century,” he wrote.
Expressing gratitude, Dallos thanked Rachel Maddow for the “journey of a lifetime” and Cory Gnazzo for his steadfast leadership. He acknowledged MSNBC’s broader upheaval, including layoffs and a corporate spinoff into SpinCo, Comcast’s new independent media entity formed from NBCUniversal’s cable and digital assets. “As many of you prepare to move to SpinCo, I’ll be cheering you on,” he added.
Dallos celebrated a “full-circle” moment, noting his daughter, Ashley, will intern at The 11th Hour starting in June, following his path. “Although today is my last day with TRMS, it’s only the beginning for her,” he wrote. “I hope our paths cross again. Until then, I wish you all the best.”
