The U.S. Army will hold a military parade in the nation’s capital on June 14 as part of its 250th birthday celebration—an event that also coincides with President Trump’s 79th birthday.
for about 6,600 soldiers, 150 vehicles, and 50 helicopters to follow a route from Arlington, Virginia, to the National Mall.
The parade will feature reenactors, demonstrations, and historical equipment spanning from the Revolutionary War through the Global War on Terror (Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria), alongside active-duty troops and cadets from U.S. military academies. The event will require involvement from several federal agencies, including those requiring security. The Army plans to have soldiers from each of its 10 divisions represented in the parade, according to a U.S. official.
The pricey parade comes as Trump and his Department of Government Efficiency, run by Elon Musk, have slashed federal government departments, personnel and programs, with thousands of workers losing their jobs, including civilians in the Defense Department.
In comments to Fox News Digital, White House officials confirmed a commemorative parade would take place and said it would be one of the first events to kick off a yearlong celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
