Veteran sports talk radio host George Plaster, who will be inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame this year, will leave Nashville Sports Radio WNSR 560-AM / 95.9-FM to join Main Street Media of Tennessee this summer, reports The Tennessean.
“The George Plaster Show,” which has been a staple of Nashville sports talk radio since 1989, will air on Main Street Media’s streaming platforms beginning in mid-July.
“We couldn’t be more excited about having George join Main Street Media,” said Dave Gould, founder and owner of Main Street Media of Tennessee. “George is a Nashville sports icon, and we believe our audience will really enjoy listening to him and the shows we have planned.”Plaster's co-host and former Vanderbilt football coach Watson Brown will join him in the move.
"The George Plaster Show” will air Monday-Friday from 4-6 p.m. as a streaming TV show on Main Street Media’s OTT channel, YouTube and social channels.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to join Watson Brown in this new venture,” Plaster said. “I am really impressed with Main Street Media; it’s an incredible media story. I also want to say a big thank you to Ted Johnson and the WNSR staff for a really fun sports talk experience. I can’t wait to get started at Main Street Media.”
In addition to hosting his daily show, Plaster has been the play-by-play announcer for Vanderbilt, Memphis State and Georgia Tech and was named by Talkers Magazine as one of the 250 most influential talk radio hosts in America.
