NBCUniversal Investigating Ron Meyer Affair

Ron Meyer and Charlotte Kirk
The FBI is looking into allegations by ousted NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer that he was the target of an extortion plot stemming from his relationship with actress Charlotte Kirk, reports The NY Post citing sources.

A source told Page Six on Wednesday, “The FBI has made calls as recently as this week about the matter.” But the source added that it’s unclear where the inquiries will go.

Meyer stepped down this month after revealing he had an affair with a woman in 2013 and struck a settlement of $2 million last year. The woman is reportedly Kirk, who was also involved in a scandal that ousted Warner Bros. exec Kevin Tsujihara just before she settled with Meyer.

Meyer told company brass about the relationship because unnamed people “continuously attempted to extort me into paying them money.” Reports allege one of the parties was Kirk’s current fiancĂ©, “Hellboy” director Neil Marshall, who strongly denied the claims, calling them “trumped up.”

Meyer’s power lawyer, Howard Weitzman, told the Hollywood Reporter: “At some point, I’m sure the people who made the extortionate demands will have to confirm what they did. Written words are powerful evidence.”

Other powerful men in Hollywood who may have had relationships with Kirk are taking cover.

THR reported that in 2012 producer Steve Tisch briefly dated Kirk, who was 19. Unlike the other execs, Tisch was single at the time.

NBCUniversal has hired an outside firm to conduct an investigation into Meyer. An insider told Page Six that it’s a “cursory review” to explore if any company funds were used. A pal said, “Ron loves the company and never introduced anything [of it] into this.”
