Atlanta Radio: Derek Harper Promoted To OM For Radio One

Radio One Atlanta has announced 18-year company vet Derek Harper as Operations Manager of Urban WHTA Hot 107.9, Urban Oldies WAMJ-FM-HD2 and Gospel WPZE 97.5 FM.

He replaces Hurricane Dave Smith, who departed in August. 

Most recently, Harper served as Program Director of Urban AC WAMJ-FM (Majic 107.5). He's also handled PD duties for co-owned Gospel WPZE-FM (Praise 97.5). Before that, Harper was PD/MD at Urban AC WFXM-FM/Macon, GA. Harper will also continue as PD of WAMJ and as Radio One and Reach Media's Inspiration Format Captain.

"Derek knows the Atlanta market better than anyone I know," said Regional VP and GM Tim Davies. "He has been key to the growth of our top rated UAC Majic 107.5/97.5 and Praise 102.5, and now he can successfully lead the entire programming team."
