D/FW Radio: WBAP, KLIF News Win Major TAPB Awards


Cumulus Media has announced that its Dallas radio stations WBAP 820 AM and KLIF 570 AM have won multiple awards in the 2016 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (TAPB) Contest.

WBAP captured 1st Place for Spot News by a Station for its coverage of the July 7th Police Ambush. WBAP also received an Honorable Mention for Continuing Coverage.

For the third consecutive year, KLIF’s Dave Williams and Amy Chodroff won 1st Place for News Anchor/Anchor Team. WBAP’s Brian Estridge received 1st Place for Sports Play-by-Play.

Forty-seven stations submitted 788 entries in the annual contest, which featured newscasts, sportscasts, features, weathercasts, spot news and video from 2016. The Associated Press is a not-for-profit news cooperative representing 1,400 newspapers and 5,000 broadcast stations in the United States.
