San Diego Radio: KFMB's Gina Landau Announces Retirement

Gina Landau
After a 35 year run, Gina Landau has announced her plans to retire from the radio industry and her current position at VP/GM at the KFMB 760 AM /  100.7 FM.

Landau spent her entire radio career in San Diego, starting at Lotus Communications (KFSD-FM). From there she moved to the Wise Communications and then to the legendary KKLQ (Q-106), serving as an AE for seven years.  In 1995 Landau was named LSM of KFMB-FM when it was Star 100.7 (now 100.7 Jack FM) and in 2007, stepped into her current role of V.P./G.M. of the KFMB Radio Stations.

While at KFMB, Landau was always on the move, her influence on the San Diego radio landscape resulted in many memorable promotions such as the now infamous "Whirl till you Hurl” in 1998.

Landau is credited with restoring balance to San Diego radio when she announced the return of the ‘Dave, Shelly, & Chainsaw’ show after a seven month absence from the local airwaves in 2010.  In addition, Landau was instrumental in introducing San Diego to new radio talent including the Armstrong & Getty Show and the Mike Slater Show.  She also took pride in welcoming San Diego’s Radio Mayor, Roger Hedgecock, to KFMB-AM in 2012.

Commenting on her retirement Landau says; “I am forever grateful to have been part of the radio industry at its crazy, vibrant, creative peak.  To have worked beside so many wonderful people who will remain radio family for life, is the icing on the cake.”

Gina’s final day at the KFMB stations will be September 4th 2015.
