Stephen A. Smith clashed with Whoopi Goldberg on "The View" Tuesday, slamming the Democratic Party’s messaging flop after Trump’s win. The ESPN host argued Trump’s victory—despite two impeachments and 34 felony convictions—wasn’t about him, but a rejection of Democrats, who’ve drifted from their working-class roots.
“They forgot the people who built them up,” Smith said, pinning their loss on a focus misaligned with voters’ needs.
Goldberg countered, defending Democrats by listing priorities like SNAP and preserving an America where anyone can thrive, contrasting that with Trump’s early job cuts. Smith wasn’t buying it. “That’s not what they were doing,” he fired back, challenging her take. “Oh, yes, it was. I was here,” Goldberg insisted.
Smith then pointed to Biden’s migrant crisis, noting Obama out-deported Trump, sharpening his critique of the party’s disconnect.
