Charlotte Radio: John Reynolds Exits Beasley

John Reynolds, a seasoned radio industry veteran who held multiple high-profile positions at Beasley Media Group, has parted ways with the company after a distinguished 25-year tenure with its Charlotte radio cluster.

Reynolds most recently served as Vice President of Music & Entertainment for Beasley Media Group while also overseeing operations as the Operations Manager for the Charlotte market. Additionally, he was the Program Director for WSOC (Country 103.7), one of the cluster’s flagship stations.

John Beasley
Reynolds’ journey with the Charlotte stations began a quarter-century ago under CBS Radio, the original owner of the properties, before they were acquired by Beasley Media Group. His career with the group kicked off when he joined as Program Director for CHR WNKS (Kiss 95.1), a role he maintained with distinction until 2022. Simultaneously, he took on the programming reins at WSOC, demonstrating his ability to manage multiple stations and formats effectively.

His leadership trajectory within Beasley Media Group saw significant milestones. In 2018, Reynolds earned a promotion to Operations Manager for the Charlotte cluster, a role that expanded his oversight to include the strategic and operational direction of the market’s portfolio of stations. His expertise and vision were further recognized in 2020 when he was elevated to Vice President of Music & Entertainment, a position that broadened his influence across Beasley’s national footprint, allowing him to shape the company’s music and entertainment strategies.

Before making his mark in Charlotte, Reynolds cultivated a robust career in radio programming across several major markets. His early days in the industry included stints as a Promotion Assistant and weekend on-air talent at the iconic WHTZ (Z100) in New York, a station renowned for its influence in the Top 40 format. He later honed his skills as Assistant Program Director and air personality at stations such as WZEE (Z104) in Madison, Wisconsin, WKTI in Milwaukee, and KHKS (106.1 Kiss FM) in Dallas, Texas. These experiences equipped him with a deep understanding of programming, audience engagement, and market dynamics, which he carried into his long tenure with Beasley.

Reynolds’ exit from Beasley Media Group marks the conclusion of a significant era for Charlotte radio, where his contributions shaped the sound and success of the market’s stations over decades. As of now, Beasley Media Group has not named an immediate successor to fill his roles, leaving the future leadership of the Charlotte cluster and the broader music and entertainment division TBD.
