The NBA Philadelphia 76ers announced Monday the team has renewed its broadcast partnership with WPEN 97.5 FM The Fanatic, which will return as the flagship station of the Sixers Radio Network as part of a multi-year agreement.
The partnership will include a number of unique elements designed to provide Sixers fans with news, updates and information that expands beyond the game broadcasts, pre-game show and 30-minute post-game show. The Sixers and 97.5 The Fanatic will create multi-platform shoulder programming that will include ten one hour long Sixers shows throughout the season, a “Player Diary” feature, and a “Call of the Game” segment.
Additionally, there will be an online “Get to know the Sixers” component produced exclusively for www.975thefanatic.com.
“We are excited to continue to grow our partnership with Greater Media and 97.5FM The Fanatic,” said Sixers Chief Executive Officer Scott O’Neil. “We continually strive to align ourselves with properties that are not only leaders in their field, but also share our vision of innovation, fan engagement and pride in our community, all of which are qualities of Greater Media.”
“We are proud to be the radio home of the Sixers for years to come,” said John Fullam Vice-President Market Manager for Greater Media. “We are looking to increase the level of fan engagement for this storied franchise and believe that Scott O’Neil, Sam Hinkie and his team will continue building the next big thing in Philadelphia.”
Popular veteran Sixers play-by-play announcer Tom McGinnis returns for his 20th season and will continue his duties as the radio voice of the team. Brian Seltzer will be back for his second year of pre- and post-game coverage.
