Library Of Congress Unveils Additions To The National Registry


The National Recording Registry, managed by the Library of Congress, announced today its 2025 inductees. This annual selection adds 25 recordings deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant to the nation's recorded sound heritage. 

Here’s a rundown of some of the latest songs and recordings added this year:

The Registry now totals 675 recordings, with these additions joining past honorees like Madonna’s "Like a Virgin," The Notorious B.I.G.’s "Ready to Die," and ABBA’s "Dancing Queen." Public nominations play a big role—over 1,300 were submitted this year—and the Librarian of Congress, with input from the National Recording Preservation Board, makes the final call. 

These recordings are preserved for their enduring value, reflecting America’s diverse audio legacy.
