Steel City Media’s Country “Q104” KBEQ Kansas City has announced a refreshed on-air lineup, April 7, 2025, blending new talent with familiar voices to energize its “New Hit Country” format.
Leading the charge is Kyle Matthews, who joined KBEQ in February as Music Director and now takes over mornings alongside Mallory Kay.
Matthews arrives from Townsquare Media’s “Wow Country 104.3” KAWO Boise, where he served as Brand Manager and afternoon host. His resume also includes two stints at NRG Media’s “Froggy 98.1” KFGE Lincoln, NE (2016-2018 and 2019-2022), with a period at Audacy’s “95.1 K-Frog” KFRG Riverside, CA in between. Kay, previously hosting nights at sister station CHR “Mix 93.3” KMXV, brings her vibrant energy to the morning slot. The show welcomes back Joe “Tater” Cavanagh as a contributor with his “Nashville Insider” segment. Cavanagh, who left KBEQ in 2024 to pursue songwriting in Nashville, returns after an eight-year run at the station in roles including Production Director, midday host, morning show producer/co-host, and Promotions Manager.
- Marissa Leggio steps into the midday slot, a significant jump for the University of Missouri-Kansas City graduate who joined Steel City Media in May 2024 as part of the promotions team. Her rapid rise reflects Q104’s commitment to nurturing local talent.
- The lineup rounds out with Lydia “LT” Taylor continuing to anchor afternoons and Erika Jay holding down nights, ensuring continuity for listeners during key drive-time and evening hours.
