Detroit Radio: WYCD's Evening Team Supporting First Responders

99.5 WYCD’s “Rob and Holly Show” teams up with country star Nate Smith to support local first responders and children in crisis

Rob and Holly from The Rob and Holly Show on 99.5 WYCD  in Detroit will join country music artist Nate Smith for a meaningful visit to the Royal Oak Fire Department in Royal Oak, MI on November 1 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Smith, who has number-one hits such as “World On Fire,” “Whisky On You” and “Bulletproof,” will provide lunch from Oak House Deli in Royal Oak for the firehouse team as a gesture of appreciation for their daily bravery and sacrifice prior to his show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Friday night.

The visit will also include a special donation from Bear Hug Detroit, the nonprofit founded by co-host Holly Hutton. Bear Hug Detroit equips first responders with teddy bears to give to children they meet during crisis situations. Its mission is to offer comfort and security to children who need it most, and this event at the firehouse is another step toward supporting local first responders and the community they serve.

Nate’s connection to the fire department is deeply personal. He endured the devastating 2018 fire that destroyed his hometown of Paradise, CA. Having lost everything he owned in the deadliest wildfire in California’s history, Smith knows firsthand the resilience and dedication of firefighters. His experience with the fire was transformative, inspiring him to reignite his music career with a newfound purpose of making a positive impact through his music.

99.5 WYCD will share exclusive social media content from the event, including interviews and behind-the-scenes moments with Nate and the firehouse crew.

“We’re incredibly passionate about supporting our local heroes, and it’s an honor to spend time with the brave men and women at the Royal Oak Fire Department,” said Hutton. “We’re honored to team up with Nate Smith to inspire community support for first responders and Bear Hug Detroit’s mission.”
