CBS Planning To Launch Weather Network

Wendy Fisher

Wendy Fisher, a seasoned news executive with a rich background at ABC News, has taken the helm at CBS News and Stations as the Vice President of Weather Strategy.

In her newly created role, Fisher will lead a dedicated national weather unit that will soon be known as the CBS Weather Network. This unit aims to revolutionize weather reporting by collaborating closely with national and station teams, including over 60 meteorologists, weather experts, and storytellers across CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.

The CBS Weather Network plans to harness the power of augmented and virtual reality alongside cutting-edge technology to enhance storytelling across all CBS News programs and platforms. As weather continues to be a top daily interest for audiences, Fisher’s mission is to provide deeper and more comprehensive reporting on this essential topic. Her extensive experience, including overseeing newsgathering resources and specialized units at ABC News, positions her well for this groundbreaking initiative.

Fisher’s team will include Ashton Altieri, recently appointed as Senior Coordinating Producer for Weather, and David Parkinson, a key player in CBS News’ weather coverage for the past seven years. Both Altieri and Parkinson will report directly to Fisher as they work together to elevate weather reporting for CBS audiences.

She'll be based in New York City.
