L-A Radio: Last Radio Disney Station Is Being Sold

KRDC 1110 AM is being sold by ABC Radio Los Angeles Assets, LLC to religious broadcaster Calvary Costa Mesa, owner of KWVE-FM in San Clemente, CA for a reported $5-million.

The station is the last station to be sold from Radio Disney's original portfolio. The station was valued at a reported $65-million when Disney purchased it in 1998, to become the flagship for Disney Radio as KDIS. Today Radio Disney is  now digitally distributed online. Since April 2021, KRDC has been a simulcast of KSPN 710 AM.

As KRLA the station has a rich history with the Boss Radio era of the '60s. 

During the rise of the British Invasion of 1964, as KRLA the station was the first Southern California station to play The Beatles. The KRLA call letters ended up on the album cover in 1977 for Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl, shown on concert tickets. Some of the station's most legendary personalities include Wink Martindale, Dick Biondi, Emperor Bob Hudson, Casey Kasem, Art Laboe and Shadoe Stevens.

KRLA continued to play current hits through the mid-seventies, when it started to feature more oldies in the mix.

KRDC utilizes 2 daytime towers (50Kw) and 4 nighttime towers (20Kw), from its famed Irwindale. It has been there since 1987. And, it also has an FM translator — K256CX at 99.1 MHz, which puts a signal over Arcadia and Sierra Madre in order to avoid interference with KGGI in Riverside.
