MSNBC Signs Deal With Former WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki

Jen Psaki, who exited her position as press secretary on May 13 after 16 months, will begin appearing on the network in the fall, MSNBC President Rashida Jones revealed Tuesday. 

USAToday reports Psaki's duties will include serving as host of a streaming show. "The program, set to debut in the first quarter of 2023, will bring together her unique perspective from behind the podium and her deep experience in the highest levels of government and presidential politics to MSNBC viewers," according to the announcement. "Psaki will also appear on NBC and during MSNBC’s primetime special election programming throughout the midterms and 2024 presidential election."  

Psaki's “extensive experience in government and on the campaign trail and perspective as a White House and Washington insider is the type of analysis that sets MSNBC apart," Jones said in a statement. "She’s a familiar face and trusted authority to MSNBC viewers, and we look forward to her insight during this consequential election season.” 

Psaki said she was "thrilled" to join the network in her own statement. “My time in government, from the White House to the State Department, and years before that on national political campaigns will fuel the insight and perspective I bring to this next chapter. I can’t wait to create a space on streaming where we break down the facts, get to the bottom of what’s driving the issues and hopefully have some fun along the way.” 

Psaki left her role as press secretary as President Joe Biden faces low approval ratings amid rising inflation and ahead of a tough midterm election where Democrats will face major headwinds to retain power in Congress.

Karine Jean-Pierre, who was the White House's principal deputy press secretary, now serves as press secretary. Jean-Pierre is the first Black woman and also first openly LGBTQ person to hold the high-profile position.
