Hartford Radio: Host Joe D'Ambrosio Says He's Leaving WTIC-AM

WTIC-AM's Joey D
Management at Entercom's WTIC 1080 AM radio is not responding to Election Day comments made on air on by host Joe D’Ambrosio, who said he is frustrated with his inability to speak his mind on the air and will leave his position when his contract expires in June.

“At this radio station at this time, I’m not allowed to let my opinions known. I’ve told management, when my contract is up in June, my time with WTIC will be over," D’Ambrosio said during a political discussion with his co-host Ray Dunaway,

When reached by The Courant for elaboration, D’Ambrosio declined to discuss the incident.

The comments were in response to a caller who promoted the theory being championed by President Donald Trump that Democrats are trying to steal the election. D’Ambrosio argued with the caller, “Eric from Rocky Hill,” and made his comments to Dunaway after the call ended.

“Eric is one reason, Ray, that when my contract is up in June, I’m done,” he told Dunaway.

“Let’s be honest, let’s tell the truth for once here. It’s that we’ve already heard the president say that if he loses, he’s going to challenge everything,” D’Ambrosio commented.

Later, “Eric” called in to the show and said to D’Ambrosio, “I can’t believe you have the intestinal fortitude to say what you said this morning, this ‘hey, let’s tell the truth for once.’ Do you remember 2015 (sic), when Trump was elected and what did you and all your liberal friends do? ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’.”

An argument followed between D’Ambrosio and the caller, during which the caller accused Democrats of trying to steal the election.

After the call, D’Ambrosio made his statement that he was leaving in June.
