Boston Radio: WEEI Blocking Return Of Kirk Minihane

Kirk Minihane
Controversial WEEI morning host Kirk Minihane went on a brief Twitter rant Wednesday morning in which he bashed the show he until recently hosted and claimed the station was blocking his return, reports The NYPost.

Minihane announced last month he was taking an “indefinite leave” from the “Kirk and Callahan” show after revealing he was dealing with depression, including suicidal thoughts.

“Pretty simple. I’ve been ready to work for the last week or so and have been kept off the air,” Minihane said. “You build a show, take it to number one, step aside to get healthy and expect to be welcomed back. Hasn’t happened.”

Minihane has been replaced by Mike Mutnansky, who sits alongside Gerry Callahan. Minihane criticized the show he left behind almost two months ago, saying a fan was “100 percent correct” that Mutnansky “has become king of recycling other people’s bits while making them less funny.”

Minihane told The Boston Globe recently that his mental breakdown was in part due to the death of both his parents last year.
