TV Ratings: Third Straight Week, FNC Leads Nets In Primetime


During the week of July 7 - 13, FOX News Channel (FNC) averaged 2.4 million viewers in primetime leading all broadcast networks for the third consecutive week including NBC (2.2 million viewers), CBS (2 million viewers) and ABC (2 million viewers). 

Since Memorial Day, FNC has commanded 3 million viewers in weekday primetime, which also leads all of television including ABC (2.9 million viewers), NBC (2.4 million viewers) and CBS (2.1 million viewers). FNC is outpacing the broadcast competition in weekday primetime since the official start of the Summer on June 20.

FNC has now topped all broadcast competition three times in 2025 for Monday-Sunday primetime and seven times with weekday primetime viewership. The last time FNC accomplished this feat for three consecutive weeks over the broadcast networks was in 2020.

In total day (6 AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 1.5 million viewers and 190,000 in the 25-54 demo leading all of cable. In fact, FNC commanded 97 of the top 100 cable telecasts for the week despite Wimbledon tennis coverage.

For the week, The Five averaged 3.5 million viewers and 376,000 in the 25-54 demo, leading cable news across the board. At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 2.6 million viewers and 284,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle saw 2.5 million viewers and 258,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime secured 3.4 million viewers and 367,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 10 PM/ET, Gutfeld! commanded 2.9 million viewers and 337,000 in the 25-4 demo, leading ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1,258,000 viewers; 239,000 A25-54). Notably, The Five and Jesse Watters Primetime both outranked CBS’ Big Brother on Thursday night which nabbed 3.2 million viewers.


FNC continued to see its daytime programs outpace the broadcast competition. The Will Cain Show (weekdays, 4 PM/ET; 2,170,000 viewers), Outnumbered (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 1,935,000 viewers), America Reports (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 1,898,000 viewers), The Story (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 1,894,000), The Faulkner Focus (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 1,879,000 viewers) and America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 1,859,000 viewers) all led CBS Mornings (1,826,000 viewers), NBC’s Today Third Hour (1,617,000 viewers) and ABC’s GMA3 (1,321,000 viewers).

With David Muir anchoring from Texas to cover the mass flooding event, “World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.252 million) on all of broadcast and cable during the week of July 7, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. 
  • “World News Tonight” has been the No. 1 most-watched program on television for the 9th week in a row (with and without sports).“World News Tonight” ranked as the No. 1 newscast across broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.252 million), Adults 25-54 (989,000) and Adults 18-49 (668,000).
  • “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (5.616 million, 856,000 and 572,000, respectively) by 1.636 million Total Viewers, by 133,000 Adults 25-54 and by 96,000 Adults 18-49.
  • “World News Tonight” increased its Total Viewer lead over “NBC Nightly News” year to year by 46% (1.636 million vs. 1.119 million).
  • For the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks, “World News Tonight” posted across-the-board gains on the year-ago week: Total Viewers (+5%/+363,000 – 7.252 million vs. 6.889 million), Adults 25-54 (+9%/+80,000 – 989,000 vs. 909,000) and Adults 18-49 (+7%/+46,000 – 668,000 vs. 622,000). “World News Tonight” stood as the only evening newscast to grow year to year in all key target demos.
  • “World News Tonight” was up week to week in Total Viewers (+1%/+75,000 – 7.252 million vs. 7.177 million).
  • “World News Tonight” (7.252 million, 989,000 and 668,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (3.874 million, 502,000 and 351,000, respectively) by 3.378 million Total Viewers, by 487,000 Adults 25-54 and by 317,000 Adults 18-49.
  • For the 17th consecutive week, “World News Tonight” increased its lead over “CBS Evening News” year to year in Total Viewers (+25% – 3.378 million vs. 2.703 million), Adults 25-54 (+41% – 487,000 vs. 346,000) and Adults 18-49 (+23% – 317,000 vs. 239,000).
NBC NIGHTLY NEWS
  • Nightly News is the only evening newscast to grow in total viewers and A25-54 viewers in year-over-year measurements
  • Nightly News continues to close gaps vs. ABC vs. last year, outperforming in A25-54 viewers on Tuesday and in A18-49 viewers on Monday and Tuesday
  • Nightly News achieves its fifth consecutive week of growing in A25-54 vs. last year
  • Nightly News is the #2 most-watched show of the week with 5.616 milliontotal viewers (LS, excluding specials, sports & syndication)

📺BROADCAST MORNING SHOWS



“Good Morning America” ranked as the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers (2.596 million) and Adults 18-49 (281,000) during the week of July 7, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” outperformed NBC’s “Today” (2.353 million) by 243,000 Total Viewers, leading the NBC program by its 2nd-largest margin of victory of the season. In addition, “GMA” outdelivered the NBC program in Adults 18-49 for the first time in nearly 2 years — since w/o 7/31/23.“GMA” increased its Total Viewer lead over “Today” by triple digits both week to week (+257% – 243,000 vs. 68,000) and year to year (+173% – 243,000 vs. 89,000).
  • “GMA” saw week-to-week gains in Adults 18-49 (+2% – 281,000 vs. 276,000), standing as the only morning newscast to grow in the demo.
  • “GMA” posted gains on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.596 million vs. 2.568 million) and Adults 25-54 (+3% – 444,000 vs. 432,000), growing in the key Adult news demo for the 4th week in a row. In addition, “GMA” was the only morning newscast to improve year to year in both measures.
  • “GMA” slashed its Adults 25-54 margins with “Today” by more than half, both week to week (-74% – 35,000 vs. 135,000) and year to year (-61% – 35,000 vs. 89,000). Further, “GMA” turned in its 2nd-closest demo performance versus “Today” of the season.
  • “GMA” ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 on Monday (+2,000 – 272,000 vs. 270,000 on 7/7/25), Tuesday (+30,000 – 302,000 vs. 272,000 on 7/8/25), Wednesday (+21,000 – 278,000 vs. 257,000 on 7/9/25) and Friday (+25,000 – 283,000 vs. 258,000), leading “Today” in four of the five head-to-head telecasts, the most number of wins during the course of the week in more than 2 ½ years — since w/o 10/3/22, based on regular telecasts.
  • On Wednesday (7/9/25), “GMA” ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 (+15,000 – 471,000 vs. 456,000).
  • “GMA” (2.596 million, 44,000 and 281,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Mornings” (1.826 million, 270,000 and 166,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+770,000), Adults 25-54 (+174,000) and Adults 18-49 (+115,000). “GMA” led “CBS Mornings” in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 for the last 1,382 weeks overall — since w/o 1/18/99.
