Reports indicate a possibility of Craig Carton returning to WFAN 660AM / 101.9 FM in New York City following the cancellation of his FS1 show, Breakfast Ball, as part of Fox Sports' programming overhaul.
According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, a return to WFAN is “not out of the question” for Carton, who has a history with the station.
Carton initially joined WFAN in 2007, co-hosting with Boomer Esiason until his 2017 arrest for a ticket scheme tied to gambling debts, which led to a prison sentence. He returned to WFAN in 2020, partnering with Evan Roberts for the Carton & Roberts show, and reclaimed ratings success before leaving in 2023 to focus on his FS1 show.
Despite his departure, Carton maintained ties with WFAN through his weekly Saturday program, Hello, My Name Is Craig, focused on gambling addiction, and he announced in 2024 that he would call three New York Yankees games for the station alongside Suzyn Waldman.
Key factors supporting a potential return include Carton’s established relationship with WFAN and the influence of Chris Oliviero, an Audacy executive (WFAN’s parent company) who facilitated his 2020 comeback.
However, challenges exist: WFAN’s current lineup, with Tiki Barber and Evan Roberts dominating afternoon ratings, would require significant reshuffling to accommodate Carton.
No definitive plans have been confirmed, and any return would likely depend on negotiations and the station’s strategic priorities.
