Scott Shriner and wife Jillian Lauren |
Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
According to reports, Lauren was shot following a high-speed chase that began when officers attempted to pull her over around 11:30 PM. The pursuit started after she allegedly refused to stop, driving a Mercedes sedan through the San Fernando Valley.
The chase escalated when Lauren reportedly crashed into a police vehicle in Sherman Oaks, prompting officers to open fire, striking her in the shoulder.
She was subsequently hospitalized, treated, and booked on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and evading police, with authorities later indicating that attempted murder charges could be considered due to the nature of the incident. The situation reportedly stemmed from a domestic disturbance call earlier that evening at the couple’s Eagle Rock home, where Lauren allegedly threatened Shriner with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement sources noted that the Los Angeles Police Department’s Force Investigation Division is reviewing the officer-involved shooting, a standard procedure in such cases.
Meanwhile, Shriner, a longtime member of Weezer since 2001, has not publicly commented on the event as of the latest updates. Lauren, an author known for works like Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, and Shriner have been married since 2005 and have two adopted children together.
