Elliott said their relationship went beyond hosting morning shows on the radio.
“John and I were like brothers from another mother. I mean, we really were. We worked together for 25 years, but we’ve only been in this studio for working together as a team for five years... and... wow... it went by way too fast,” said Elliott.
Elliott said as a team, all they wanted to do was make their listeners laugh and put a smile on their faces for the rest of the day. One of the last activities they did together was play a chess game.
“We played chess a lot and I accused him of cheating a lot, and he accused me of cheating a lot, but we didn’t,” said Elliott. “And uh... yesterday, when he passed, I just took both kings and laid them down, and that was that game. And game’s over, wow...”
