D/FW Radio: As Expected, The Eagle Has Landed..Again


iHeartMedia Dallas/Ft. Worth announced today the return of the legendary rock station KEGL 97.1 The Eagle, effective immediately.

97.1 The Eagle will broadcast Active Rock, with music from artists including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and Foo Fighters. More details, including on-air personalities and the programming lineup, will be announced soon.

“I’m excited that The Eagle is back and ready to rock Dallas/Ft. Worth again,” said Patrick Davis, Senior Vice President of Programming for Dallas/Ft. Worth. “This is a legendary brand for the market, and listeners have been asking to have it back on air and we listened!”

“We are thrilled to announce the return of a legendary station to the DFW airwaves, 97.1 The Eagle. Active rock enthusiasts can rejoice as their beloved station is back, ready to once again be the destination for all things rock!” added Amy Leimbach, iHeartMedia Region President.

The shift in programming was announced late morning Fridayt through a sudden switch from its usual lineup to content piped in from WTKS, Orlando. Rhyner wasn't shy about the writing on the wall. "I could be standing at the New Mexico border and still see this coming," he told the Dallas Observer.

For now, 97.1 FM remains the broadcast home for the Dallas Mavericks, as confirmed by the Mavericks' ongoing playoff coverage against the Los Angeles Clippers. iHeartMedia's deal to air Mavericks games still has two years remaining, ensuring that games will air for the foreseeable playoffs, with the exception of Game 5 which will broadcast on Lone Star 92.5.
