John Forsythe |
Forsythe joined Leslye Gale on the MAGIC 107.7 morning show in 2010. He began his radio career in his hometown of Roswell, New Mexico while still a junior in high school. Throughout his 50-year career, Forsythe has also worked on well-known stations throughout the U.S. including WQAM-AM in Miami, KLIF-AM in Dallas, KOB-FM in Albuquerque and KCBQ-FM and Class FM in San Diego. His charitable efforts have included working with local children’s hospitals throughout his career and serving on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association. Forsythe is a member of the New Mexico Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
“It’s been a difficult decision to step away from such a successful show but it’s time,” Forsythe said. “Radio has given me so many amazing life experiences. From the early days in Miami with the Bee Gees living on the same canal as QAM in the ‘70s, to being part of the Chargers broadcast team in the ‘80s, to raising millions for children’s hospitals in the ’90s and 2000s, radio has enriched my life in so many ways! I’m grateful for the opportunity to try and make someone’s day better through warmth and laughter.”
Chris Kampmeier, who first employed Forsythe in the Orlando market, said, “John is a total pro and a terrific broadcaster with a great sense of humor. Along with his on-air partner, Leslye Gale, he achieved the highest morning shares ever for MAGIC 107.7 – a great finale to a great career!”
“John has been the ultimate professional since the day we hired him,” said Linda Byrd, President of iHeartMedia’s North Florida Region. “He is a great employee and a wonderful on-air talent with incredible client service skills. Although he will be sorely missed, I am happy we can send him off into the sunset to enjoy retirement with his beautiful wife, Faith.”
After Forsythe’s retirement, Gale will continue to host the weekly morning program while iHeartMedia searches for a new co-host.
