Singer Helen Reddy Diagnosed With Dementia

73-year-old singer Helen Reddy has moved into a Los Angeles nursing facility where she is being cared for by family and friends.

The Sydney Daily Telegraph reports the debilitating illness is in its early stages' however, Reddy is already “asking same question every few minutes”.

She has since become a resident of the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Samuel Goldwyn Center for Behavioral Health in Woodland Hills, California.

The mother of two and the first Australian to win a Grammy Award co-wrote the smash hit I Am Woman in 1971, launching her career around the world, particularly in the United States.



The song was adopted as an unofficial anthem for the growing feminism movement globally. It was the first #1 hit on the Billboard chart by an Australian-born artist.
