Rush Limbaugh |
Recently on Limbaugh's radio show, he blamed the measles outbreak on immigrant children.
Here's what he said:
"We have a vaccination problem for one reason: Barack Hussein Obama and his open borders immigration policy, which opened the southern borders to children sick, healthy, you name it, poor, ill-educated, just tens of thousands of kids flooded the southern border all of last year. They were never examined before they got here. They were never examined after they got here and quarantined if they had a disease. They were just sent out across the country. Many of them had measles."Fact-checkers looked at the protocol children go through by Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services before they get here."Fact-checkers looked at the protocol children go through by Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services before they get here.
"It's actually part of their protocol to find out if those children are properly vaccinated. If they're not, they're put in a different area, where they can get that kind of treatment," says Katie Sanders with PunditFact.
Limbaugh also talks about the southern borders, but the measles outbreak linked to Disneyland has not been connected to immigrant children.
"We're thinking it's overseas travelers who are responsible for the majority of the current outbreak that we're seeing stem from California and several other states," says Sanders.
Fact-checkers also found most of the children coming into this country were in many cases, from countries with higher vaccination rates than the United States.
Because there is no evidence to support any part of this claim, PunditFact gives Limbaugh its worst rating, PANTS ON FIRE.
