Westwood One again will be presenting its annual Super Bowl Sound Awards for Excellence in Audio Creativity, a consumer-driven index that celebrates brand advertisers and audio creative.
More and more advertisers are maximizing their ad spends and strategically using sound to break through the clutter and effectively identify their brand. Westwood One--through its programming, experiential events, and digital assets—champions the power of sound by showcasing the best radio commercials within the biggest sporting event of the year—the Super Bowl. Westwood One is the exclusive national radio partner of the NFL and will broadcast national play-by-play coverage of Super Bowl XLIX from Phoenix, Arizona.
The Super Bowl Sound Awards for Excellence in Audio Creativity will feature national commercials airing on the 700+ radio stations airing Westwood One’s Super Bowl XLIX broadcast, as well as SiriusXM Radio, NFL.com/Audiopass, NFL Mobile from Verizon, and on the American Forces Radio Network.
Last year’s Sound Award winner, Motel 6, earned the top spot with a clever parody on using AutoCorrect. The other top four vote-getters, in consecutive order, included Tilted Kilt, Subway, Exergen, and Taco Bell.
Listeners and consumers are encouraged to vote for their favorite Super Bowl commercial across many of Westwood One properties via an array of online, on-air, and social media promotion (#soundawards). Voting opened at 3:00 pm ET Monday at www.thesoundawards.com and runs through 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, February 4.
“We created the Sound Awards to connect with and to encourage marketers, creatives, and brands to join forces and showcase the power of sound,” said Brandon Berman, SVP, Sports Sales & Marketing for Westwood One. “Our Super Bowl broadcast is the perfect environment for advertisers to leverage their commercial creative, thanks to our incredible reach and sheer volume of audience across platforms. Following the crowning of a Super Bowl Champion, we look forward to crowning an advertising champion.”
Super Bowl Sunday on Westwood One will kick off with the network’s pregame coverage, which launches at 2 pm ET with Super Bowl Preview and Super Bowl Insider. Live coverage begins with Super Sunday at 4 pm ET. The game is set in motion at 5 pm ET, live from University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
